Rancho Tortuga

Rancho Tortuga had its beginning in 2019. We incorporated and received our 501c3 status in 2026.

Located in the heart of the Central Valley, Rancho Tortuga is a non-profit organization dedicated to education of the public about our primary mission: ensuring the survival of the Galapagos Tortoise for future generations. We are building this to last well beyond our own lifetimes.   Special Events, School Field Trips, Fund Raisers, Social Media, Displays at Reptile Shows, and Hands on Visits by Appointment all to raise awareness of the work we do to help ensure the future of the Galapagos Tortoise.

Through our affiliation with the Galapagos Tortoise Alliance, we are establishing assurance colonies of genetically pure sub-species of Galapagos Tortoises as a vital biological insurance policy. These gentle giants can live for over 150 years and take a long time to reach maturity. A tortoise born today may not breed until 2046. The work we do now ensures the species' ability to continue. Conservation isn't just about the present; it’s about the legacy we leave behind. Join us in passing down the knowledge, the passion, and the species itself.
